Detrusor sphincter dyssynergia

« Back to Glossary Index

A condition where the coordinated action of two muscles used for urination (the detrusor of the bladder and the sphincter of the urethra) is disrupted. Instead of relaxing completely when voiding, the sphincter muscle contracts as the detrusor also contracts. This causes bladder pressure to rise.
